Worcester, Mass. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team concluded their visit to the two-day Assumption College Tip Off Classic on Sunday afternoon. Concordia battled to hosts as the Greyhounds would win 81-41 to remain undefeated on the season.
Assumption began the first half with an early 26-4 advantage as the team was able to connect on their three-point shots. Junior Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) would help break a drought for the Clippers a basket with 11:38 remaining on the clock. Concordia would end the first half outscoring the Greyhounds 7-6 over the last four and a half minutes but the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 53-17.
Dawson would score the opening basket in the second half but Assumption would rally off the next eight points to take a 61-19 advantage. Concordia would respond moments later with a 6-0 run but the Clippers were unable to bounce back as the Greyhounds would go on for an 81-41victory.
Junior Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with nine points and seven rebounds while freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.)and Dawson both added eight points. Assumption shot 46.7% from the field as compared to 34.9% by the Clippers. The Greyhounds also held a 39-9 points off turnovers advantage.
Concordia (0-5, 0-1 CACC) will return to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday, Nov. 20th with a 5:30 p.m. game at Dominican (N.Y.). Fans unable attend the game can follow the action via the live stats and live video links on ConcordiaClippers.com.
