PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball Battles USciences on Saturday Afternoon
BRONXVILLE, NY – Concordia will be hosting Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent the University of the Sciences (USciences) on Saturday afternoon as the two teams will meet for their only regular season game. Tip-off at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY is set for 1pm. The Devils lead the all-time series 3-0 versus the Clippers since their first meeting during the 2001-02 season.
CONCORDIA VS. USCIENCES
- USciences won the first game, 93-52, on Nov. 17, 2001 in Bronxville, NY.
- The Clippers have lost all three games by more than 20 points.
- The last time Concordia and USciences met (Feb. 5, 2011), the Devils won 67-45 in Philadelphia, PA. Krystina Agard (Queens, NY) led the Clippers with 15 points and four assists while adding three steals, two rebounds and a block. Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) recorded a game-high 12 rebounds.

THE CONCORDIA COLLEGE CLIPPERS (5-13, 4-7 CACC)
- Picked to finish tied for 6th in CACC North Division preseason poll, currently 5th in the North Division Standings.
- Concordia previously fell to Post University, 83-74, on Tuesday evening. Agard led the Clippers in scoring as she had 23 points including 13-of-14 from the foul line and added three rebounds, a block, a steal and an assist in 37 minutes of action. Blakemore recorded her 11th double-double of the season as she scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
- Agard leads the team in points per game (17.6), assists per game (3.1) and steals per game (2.4).
- Blakemore is currently 3rd in NCAA Division II with an average of 12.7 rebounds per game and 6th in blocked shots per game (3.1) according to the national statistics that were released on Jan. 22nd.
- As a team, the Clippers are 8th in Division II with 5.6 blocks per game.
- In the CACC, Concordia leads the conference in blocks per game while Blakemore is 1st in rebounds per game (12.7), Agard is tied for 4th in points per game (17.6) and Jones is 6th in 3-Pt. percentage (39.2).
THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES DEVILS (11-7, 7-3 CACC)
- Picked to finish tied for 4th in CACC South Division preseason poll, currently 3rd in the South Division standings.
- USciences previously defeated Holy Family, 65-53, on Thursday evening. Brianne Traub scored a game-high 16 points while adding six rebounds and two blocks. Four players for USciences finished in double figures as the team shot 44.2% (23-of-52) from the field.
- Traub leads the team and is tied for 4th in the CACC averaging 17.6 points per game as only two players average in double figures for the team.
- Becca Ruggear leads the team in rebounds per game (7.1) and field goal percentage (47.2) which is 7th overall in the CACC.
- Elsebeth Birman is ranked 26th in Division II for assists per game (4.9) according to the national statistics that were released on Jan. 22nd.
- In the CACC, the Devils have the second best 3-Pt. field goal percentage (36.3%) and free throw percentage (72.2%).
