PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball to Host Post University on Tuesday

BRONXVILLE, NY – Concordia will be hosting Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Post University on Tuesday evening as the two teams will meet for the first time in two matchups this season. Tip-off at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY is set for 5pm. The Eagles lead the all-time series 6-2 versus the Clippers since their first meeting during the 1997-98 season.


CONCORDIA VS. POST

  • Concordia won the first game during the 1997-98 season, 77-62, in Waterbury, CT.
  • The Clippers are on a three game losing streak against the Eagles.
  • The last time Concordia and Post met (Jan. 19, 2011), the Eagles won 72-59 in Waterbury, CT. Krystina Agard (Queens, NY) led the Clippers with 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) added 10 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Post made seven more three-point shots than Concordia.

THE CONCORDIA COLLEGE CLIPPERS (5-12, 4-6 CACC)

  • Picked to finish tied for 6th in CACC North Division preseason poll.
  • Concordia previously fell to Dominican College, 68-59, on Wednesday evening. Sade Jones (Patterson, NJ) led the Clippers in scoring as she knocked down 19 points including 4-of-5 from behind the three point arc. Jones also had four assists, three rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes of action. Blakemore missed a triple-double by only one block as she finished with 15 points, 17 rebounds and nine blocks.
  • Agard leads the team in points per game (17.3), assists per game (3.2) and steals per game (2.5).
  • Blakemore is currently 3rd in NCAA Division II with an average of 12.7 rebounds per game, 7th in blocked shots per game (3.1) and 6th with 10 double-doubles according to the national statistics that were released on Jan. 19th.
  • As a team, the Clippers are 8th in Division II with 5.6 blocks per game.
  • In the CACC, Concordia leads the conference in blocks while Blakemore is 1st in rebounds per game (12.7), Agard is 5th in points per game (17.3) and Jones is 4th in 3-Pt. percentage (41.3).

THE POST UNIVERSITY EAGLES (3-12, 1-7 CACC)

  • Picked to finish tied for 6th in CACC North Division preseason poll.
  • Post previously fell to Holy Family, 87-53, on Saturday afternoon. Aubrey Latham scored a team-high 13 points while adding four rebounds and four assists. The Eagles only made 20 field goal shots, seven of which were three-point baskets as they were also out rebounded 49-35.
  • Latham leads the team averaging 13.1 points per game as she also has the most assists per game (2.1) and she is ranked 9th in Division II in free throw percentage (90.7%) according to the national statistics released on Jan. 19th. Three players for Post average double figures per game while Monique Chance leads the team in rebounding (9.8).
  • In the CACC, the Eagles record the third most rebounds per game (44.3) and record the fewest steals (6.7).
