PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball Looks to Split Season Series with Dominican on Wednesday

BRONXVILLE, NY – Concordia will be hosting Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Dominican College on Wednesday evening as the two teams will meet for the second time this season. Tip-off at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY is set for 5pm. The Chargers lead the all-time series 14-4 versus the Clippers since the 1976-77 season.


CONCORDIA VS. DOMINICAN

  • Concordia won their first meeting on Feb. 7, 1977 in Bronxville, NY.
  • Since joining the CACC in 2009, the Clippers are 0-5 in conference games against the Chargers.
  • The last time Concordia and Dominican met (Dec. 3, 2011), the Chargers won 72-65 in Orangeburg, NY. Krystina Agard (Queens, NY) led the Clippers with 26 points including shooting 11-of-15 from the foul line while adding five rebounds and four assists. Junior Sade Jones (Patterson, NJ) added 11 points as she shot 4-of-13 from the field. Dominican's bench outscored Concordia's bench 31-11 in the game.

THE CONCORDIA COLLEGE CLIPPERS (5-11, 4-5 CACC)

  • Picked to finish 6th in CACC North Division preseason poll.
  • Concordia previously fell to Bloomfield College, 71-51, on Thursday evening. Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) led the Clippers with 14 points and 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. She also added five steals, two blocks and a steal in 39 minutes of action. Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, NY) added 12 points off the bench and chipped in with two rebounds and two assists.
  • Agard leads the team in points per game (17.8), assists per game (3.4) and steals per game (2.6).
  • Blakemore is currently 5th in NCAA Division II with an average of 12.4 rebounds per game, 10th in blocked shots per game (2.8) and 5th with 9 double-doubles according to the national statistics that were released on Jan. 12th.
  • As a team, the Clippers are 11th in Division II with 5.4 blocks per game.

  • Dominican previously defeated Bloomfield College, 66-62 in OT, on Tuesday evening. Lindsey Lopez led the Chargers with 28 points off the bench including a 6-of-8 performance from behind the three-point arc. The bench for Dominican outscored Bloomfield's bench 41-23 in the game.
  • Lopez leads the team averaging 11.5 points per game as she is the only player to average in double figures for the Chargers.
  • Lopez is ranked 10th in 3-Pt. field goal percentage (46.9%) and 22nd in 3-Pt field goals per game (2.7) according to the NCAA Division II national statistics released on Jan. 12th.
