Rommel leads with 19 during tough loss in home opener
Bronxville, NY - Rommel leads with 19 during tough loss in home opener
The Lady Clippers opened up their home season with a non-conference contest with the Bloomsburg University Huskies. The Clippers started their home stand struggling to find their groove on their home court. The Huskies jumped at the chance and took a 17-2 scoring run to open the game up. With less than ten minutes in the half the Clippers found a groove and started to climb back into the game. The Clippers worked to hold the Huskies off from scoring and to continue to fight their way back but would have to go at it in the second half as the Huskies held a 39-20 lead.
The Clippers unfortunately struggled to start off the second half
as the Huskies went on another scoring run to strengthen their
lead. With a couple of second chance points by Clippers own
Shari Cordero the Clippers turned their game around and went into a
scoring battle. Along with Cordero posting 12 rebounds, 7
points, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, Senior Dana Rommel led the Clippers
battle with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals (11 points alone in
the second half). Though the Clippers started to find their
way on the court the time ran out and the Clippers fell to the
Huskies 50-75.
Senior Dana Rommel led the way on the court as she scored her 1,000th career point. Gianna Zonghetti posted 8 points while Kayla Koch knocked down 7 points and added 7 rebounds.
The Lady Clippers will host their first CACC opponent Felician College on Tuesday, December 8th at 5:00pm.
