Rommel Nets 24 Points in Loss to Dowling
Oakdale, NY - Junior Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY) scored a game high 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a 97-63 loss to the Golden Lions of Dowling College yesterday at Dowling Gymnasium in Oakdale, NY. Rommel shot 10 for 17 (58.8%) from the floor and was 4 for 5 (80%) from the free throw line.
Sophomore Bonnie DeFina (Maspeth, NY) added 16 points for the Clippers and junior Jocelyn Martin (Nesconset, NY) chipped in 7 points and 3 rebounds. Sophomore Amanda Eggink (Red Hook, NY) had a game high 10 rebounds and junior Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) collected a game high 10 assists for the Clippers.
For the Golden Lions, Janika Sundstrom scored 17 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Kelly Puwalski finished with 15 points and Mirna Araujo chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Christie Marrone had a team high 8 assists to go along with 13 points.
The loss drops the Clippers to 3-18 on the season and 1-11 in the East Coast Conference. The Golden Lions improve to 16-5 overall and 10-2 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will return to the court on Wednesday, February 11th, as they host the C.W. Post Pioneers at the Meyer Athletic Center in East Coast Conference action. C.W. Post defeated the Clippers 67-46 in Brookville, NY back on Monday, January 12th. The game will commence at 5:00 PM.
