Women's Basketball Falls to Dowling 82-61
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's basketball team was defeated by the Golden Lions of Dowling College 82-61 tonight in East Coast Conference action at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY.
Junior Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY) led the Clippers with 21 points on 9 for 16 (56%) shooting from the floor. Sophomores Amanda Eggink (Red Hook, NY) and Bonnie DeFina (Maspeth, NY) scored 9 points and 8 points, respectively. Junior Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) finished with a game high 10 assists to go along with 6 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 points. Eggink, sophomore Kasey Grisanti (Bronx, NY) and junior Cherise Moreland (Laurelton, NY) each pulled down 6 rebounds for the Clippers.
For the Golden Lions, Molloy Tubridy finished with a game high 25 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Simona Bartkova and Shanasia Franklin both added 9 points and Christie Marrone chipped in 10 points and 3 assists. Michele Yawn had a game high 15 rebounds.
The loss drops the Clippers to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in East Coast Conference play. Dowling improves to 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference action.
The Clippers will continue the season in 2009 when they travel to Nyack, NY on Thursday, January 8th to face the Warriors of Nyack College in a non-conference battle. The game will begin at 7:00 PM.
