Clippers Fall in Season Finale 83-72

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's basketball team ended the 2007-2008 season with a loss to the Knights of Queens College 83-72 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY.

Junior Shari Cordero (Bronx, NY) finished with a team high 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Sophomore Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) chipped in 12 points, 4 assists and 3 steals, while freshman Amanda Eggink (Red Hook, NY) was a rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Sophomore Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY), the leading scorer for the Clippers, added 11 points in 25 minutes of action.

 

 

The Clippers said farewell to two senior student-athletes who participated in their final collegiate contest. Senior Leanne Doughty (Amityville, NY) played 9 minutes and scored 2 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. Fellow senior Danielle Bacon (Levittown, NY) finished the game with 7 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

For the Knights, Maryann Welsh had a game high 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Welsh shot an impressive 14-17 (82%) from the free throw line in the game. Amanda Bartlett added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Jennifer Robbins, who is 3rd in the ECC in rebounding, pulled down 13 rebounds to go along with her 6 points. Bethanie Mandresh and Rachel Primm scored 9 points and 8 points, respectively. The Knights improve to 13-13 overall and 11-8 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers close out the 2007-2008 women's basketball season with an overall record of 2-25, 1-19 in the East Coast Conference.
