Dominican Tops Clippers 84-46
The Concordia College women's basketball team was defeated by the Chargers of Dominican College 84-46 last night in the Dominican College Tip-Off Classic in Orangeburg, NY. Freshman guard Danielle McLaughlin (Staten Island, NY) scored a game high 18 points for the Clippers. Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) and Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY) each scored 7 points. Binnie also had a team high 4 assists. A jumper by forward Danielle Bacon (Levittown, NY) cut the Clipper deficit to 28-26 with 2:24 remaining, however, Dominican closed out the first half on an 11-0 scoring run to take a 39-28 lead into the locker room at the half. Bacon finished the game with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Gianna Zonghetti (Garrison, NY) led the Clippers in rebounds with 7, and added 4 points. Zonghetti scored the first basket of the second half to cut the deficit to 11 points, but Concordia would get no closer as the Chargers would push the lead to 19 points with just over 15 minutes remaining.
For Dominican College, Jackie Tracey-Spitaleri scored 13 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Dana Rotio and Rachelle Sainten each added 12 points. Adele Laskowski scored 11 points and added 3 steals.
The loss drops the Clippers to 0-3 on the season. Dominican College goes undefeated in the Tip-Off Classic to move to 2-0 on the season.
The Clippers will take the court again on Tuesday, November
21st, as they travel to Lodi, NJ to face the Golden
Falcon of Felician College. The game will begin at 7:00 PM.
