Clippers Ink Three for Women's Basketball Next Season

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College Athletic Department has announced the signing of three new women's basketball players for the upcoming 2007-2008 basketball season: Amanda Eggink, Kasey Grisanti and Bonnie DeFina.

Amanda Eggink had a tremendous career at Red Hook High School. Eggink was a three year varsity starter for the Raiders. In her senior season, Eggink averaged 13.2 points per game and pulled down 13.9 rebounds per game. The 5'-11" forward led Red Hook HS to the Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) title, scoring 20 points in the title game and the Section 9 title game as well. Eggink was First Team All MHAL and was named First Team in the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Kingston Freeman newspapers. The freshman will be looked to give a much needed inside presence for the Clippers, both offensively and defensively. "Last year, we were simply dominated on the boards," says Head Coach Bob DiNardo. "We were far too perimeter-oriented as a team." DiNardo also states, "Adding a player like Amanda gives us that presence inside, offensively, defensively and on the glass that we really need."

Kasey Grisanti comes to Concordia College from Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx. Grisanti, a forward was a 1,000 point scorer for Cardinal Spellman in her career there. The senior also played in the Wheelchair Classic All-Star Game.

Bonnie DeFina played her high school basketball at Saint Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows, New York. DeFina also participated in the Wheelchair Classic All-Star Game and has been accepted into the Fellows Program at Concordia College. The Fellows Program is the honors program at Concordia College. DeFina averaged 17 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. The forward netted a career high 33 points in a game this season for Saint Francis. DeFina helped lead her team to the playoffs, where they lost in the quarter-finals to Mary Louis High School. DeFina was a team captain and all-around leader.

The Concordia College women's basketball team will begin the 2007-2008 season in Easton, Massachusetts, as they will be participating in the Assumption College Tournament on November 16-17.
