Pioneers Defeat Clippers 105-56
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College women's basketball team was defeated by the C.W. Post Pioneers 105-56 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers were led by freshman forward Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY), who finished with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, a blocked shot and a steal. Rommel shot 54% (7 for 13) from the floor. Freshman Danielle McLaughlin (Staten Island, NY) added 12 points and 3 rebounds and junior Danielle Bacon (Levittown, NY) chipped in 9 points and 2 rebounds. Freshman Gianna Zonghetti (Garrison, NY) led Concordia in rebounds with 4 boards, to go along with 7 points.
For C.W. Post, Gina Catherall poured in a game high 24 points on 10 for 17 (59%) shooting. Erica Bell scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds on 8 for 13 (62%) shooting. Whitney Murrer and Jasmine Moore each chipped in 14 points and LaDonna Winston added 9 points for the Pioneers. Murrer and Winston each pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.
The loss drops the Clippers record to 0-22 overall and 0-15 in the East Coast Conference. C.W. Post improves to 12-10 overall and 11-4 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will continue their homestand at the Meyer Athletic
Center on Saturday, February, 10th, as they host the Bears of
the New York Institute of Technology. The Bears defeated the
Clippers 72-50 back on January 10th in Old Westbury, NY.
Concordia was led by McLaughlin's 12 points. Rommel posted a
double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Annette
Johansen scored a game high 17 points and Nicole Matthews also
posted a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 12
rebounds. The action begins at 1:00 PM.
