Clippers Tumble at Dowling 75-24

Oakdale, NY - Led by a game high 29 points off the bench by Janika Sundstrom, the Dowling College Golden Lions defeated the Clippers 75-24 last night in Oakdale, NY. Sundstrom was 10 for 16 (63%) from the floor, including an amazing 8 for 12 (67%) from 3-point range in just 20 minutes of action.

Concordia was led by freshman Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY), who nearly secured her 2nd double-double of the season, with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Danielle McLaughlin (Staten Island, NY) added 8 points for the Clippers. Freshman Jocelyn Martin (Nesconset, NY) pulled down a season high 5 rebounds.

 

 

For the Golden Lions, Natasha Page scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to go along with Sundstrom's 29 points. Gisemi Rolle, Teelah Grimes, Molly Tubridy and Kaisa Valtakari each chipped in 6 points for Dowling.

With the loss, the Clipers fall to 0-21 overall and 0-14 in the East Coast Conference. The Golden Lions improve to 10-11 overall and 7-7 in the East Coast Conference.

Concordia will enter a stretch of 4 straight home contests at the Meyer Athletic Center, beginning with a match-up against the C.W. Post Pioneers on Thursday, February 8th. Earlier this season, the Pioneers defeated the Clippers 76-46 back on December 13th in Brookville, NY. McLaughlin and Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) both led Concordia in scoring with 10 points apiece. Erica Bell scored a game high 14 points for C.W. Post. The action will begin at 5:00 PM.
