Well Balanced Attack Leads Flyers Past Clippers
Bronxville, NY - Five Mercy College players scored in double figures, as the Flyers sailed past the Clippers 84-58 yesterday at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Concordia was led by junior Danielle Bacon (Levittown, NY), who finished with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Freshman Danielle McLaughlin (Staten Island, NY) also scored 13 points. McLaughlin, who leads the Clippers in 3-point field goal percentage (.341), shot 4 for 9 (44%) from long distance. Freshman Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY) added 10 points and 3 rebounds and Jennifer Osher (White Plains, NY) chipped in 8 points in 9 minutes of action. Osher was 3 for 4 (75%) from the floor and a perfect 2 for 2 from the free throw line in the game. Freshman Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) scored 5 points and led Concordia in rebounds (8), assists (8) and steals (4). The loss drops the Clippers record to 0-20 overall and 0-13 in the East Coast Conference.
Mercy College was led by Elissa Krossber, who finished with a game high 21 points and 9 rebounds. Christina Baxter tallied 20 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the Flyers. Krossber and Baxter shot a combined 8 for 10 (80%) from the 3-point range, with each player missing 1 shot. Tannyka Bent added 17 points and 6 rebounds.Samantha DeVore and Jazmin Steele scored 14 points and 10 points, respectively. Mercy College improves to 6-12 overall and 4-9 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will look for their first win of the season on Tuesday, February 6th, as they travel to Oakdale, NY to face the Golden Lions of Dowling College. The Golden Lions handed the Clippers a 56-31 setback on December 15th. Bacon led the Clippers in that contest with 8 points and 6 rebounds. The action gets underway at 5:00 PM.
