Bacon Nets 17 Points in Loss to Bridgeport

Bronxville, NY - Junior forward Danielle Bacon (Levittown, NY) scored a game high 17 points, however, the Clippers fell to the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights 96-50 last night at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Bacon had one of her best shooting performances of the season, shooting 50% (5 for 10) from the floor, including 3 for 5 (60%) from 3-point range. The 17 points is a season high for Bacon, coming just two days after scoring her previous season high of 15 points against Molloy College. Danielle McLaughlin (Staten Island, NY) added 16 points for the Clippers. The freshman shot 4 for 7 (57%) from the floor and wasa perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY) chipped in 7 points and 4 rebounds and Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) added 6 points.

 

 

For Bridgeport, Angelina Jimenez finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action. Shannon Malone scored 13 points on a perfect 5 for 5 shooting night and Tereza Arnetova scored 12 points on a perfect 6 for 6 shooting game. Jennifer Rucker chipped in 12 points. Stephanie Darden led the Purple Knights with 7 assists.

The loss drops the Clippers record to 0-25 overall and 0-18 in the East Coast Conference. The University of Bridgeport improves to 11-13 overall and 11-6 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers will travel to Flushing, NY on Saturday, February 17th to take on the Knights of Queens College. The Knights escaped with a 75-69 win at the Meyer Athletic Center on January 20th. McLaughlin scored a game high 21 points in that contest and Rommel added 14 points. Binnie dished out a season high 11 assists. Maryann Walsh, Brittany Faherty and Danielle Castelli scored 16 points apiece for the Knights. The action gets underway at 5:00 PM.
