Golden Lions Tame Clippers 56-31
Bronxville, NY - The Dowling College Golden Lions overcame a first-half deficit to defeat the Clippers 56-31 tonight at the Meyer Athletic Center in Bronxville, NY. Junior Danielle Bacon (Levittown, NY) led the Clippers with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Freshman Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY) scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) finished with 4 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Clippers started the game strong, gaining an early 8-3 lead. A jumper by Bacon gave Concordia a 10-8 lead with 12:37 left in the first half. That's when the Golden Lions defense clamped down and held Concordia to 2 points in the final 12 minutes, taking a 24-12 lead into the locker room.
For Dowling College, Natasha Page scored 9 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Gisemi Rolle, Kaisa Valtakari and Kristina Mitchell all finished with 8 points. Brigid Lyons scored 6 points and grabbed a game high 10 rebounds.
The Clippers fall to 0-11 overall and 0-4 in the East Coast Conference. Dowling College improves to 5-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will return to action next semester on Monday,
January 8th as they take on the Flyers of Mercy College. The game
will be played at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY
and will begin at 5:00 PM.
