Clippers Fall to Flyers 70-55
White Plains, NY - Despite a season high 20 points from Dana Rommel (Staten Island, NY), the Clippers were defeated by the Flyers of Mercy College 70-55 last night at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY. Rommel shot a season high 62% (8 for 13) from the floor, including 75% (3 for 4) from 3-point range. The freshman forward also grabbed 6 rebounds and tied a season's best with 3 blocked shots. Freshman guard Danielle McLaughlin (Staten Island, NY) scored 14 points for the Clippers. Senior Vanuza Pereira-Bravo (Brussels, Belgium) added 7 points and a game high 11 rebounds and freshman guard Brittany Binnie (Middletown, NY) chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and a season high 6 assists.
For Mercy College, Jazmin Steele scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Christina Baxter added 13 points and a game high 8 assists. Samantha DeVore and Jasmine Sistrunk both narrowly missed double-doubles. DeVore finished the game with 9 points and 15 rebounds and Sistrunk finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds.
The loss drops the clippers record to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the East Coast Conference. The Flyers improve to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will next travel to Old Westbury, NY to face the Bears
of The New York Institute of Technology on Wednesday, January 10th.
