Bob D'Avanzo will be entering his 2nd season as the assistant
coach for the Concordia softball team. Coach D'Avanzo was the
former head softball coach at the College of New Rochelle in from
2003-2004. Before that, D'Avanzo coached at the College of Mount
Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY. D'Avanzo was the assistant coach
for the Dolphins from 1997-1999 under one of his former players,
Donna Brini Verna. In 2000, Coach D'Avanzo became head coach at
Mount Saint Vincent and won Coach of the Year honors in the Hudson
Valley Women's Athletic Conference.
Coach D'Avanzo has worked numerous softball camps and clinics,
including the University of Tennessee softball camp and Elite
softball camp in 2003 and 2005 under Ralph and Karen Weekly,
co-head coaches at the University of Tennessee. Ralph Weekly was a
former hitting instructor for the Olympic Softball team in the
1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics.
Coach D'Avanzo has been running and working softball camps for the
past 6 years as a clinician at Elite Fast Pitch Softball
School under Penny Rosario-Roberts, a 1996 Puerto Rican Olympic
softball player and Joe Cirrincione, assistant coach at Iona
College. Coach D'Avanzo also instructs his own personal catcher's
clinics as well.
