Concordia Falls at Home to Felician in CACC Doubleheader
Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College softball team battled the Felician College Golden Falcons in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Clippers fell in both games, 7-1 and 8-0, as they are now mathematically eliminated from earning a spot in the CACC Tournament.
Felician jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning of game one as the Golden Falcons looked to grab control of the game. Felician added two more runs in the third as Concordia struggled offensively.
The Clippers' only run came off Maria DeMartino's (Staten Island, NY) RBI single in the bottom of the third which drove in Victoria Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, NY) from second base. The Golden Falcons added one more run to their total in the seventh to take the 7-1 victory.
Theresa Magnani (Bethpage, NY) pitched the complete game for Concordia in the defeat as she allowed four earned runs on 11 hits. As a team, the Clippers stranded seven runners on base during the game.
Game two would be controlled by Felician as well with three runs being shown on the scoreboard following the second inning. The Golden Falcons added two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to win 8-0 in five innings. Amanda Ramirez suffered the loss as she pitched the complete game allowing two earned runs on eight hits.
The Clippers (9-20, 6-16 CACC) will host USciences in their next doubleheader at Clipper Softball Field on Thursday. The first game is set to begin at 3:30pm as Concordia has four games remaining on their schedule.
