Clippers trounce Golden Falcons in double header

The Clippers hosted the Felician College Golden Falcons in a CACC double header today.  With the Clippers giving Alexa Rosella the ball for the first game the Clippers were ready to attack. 

Rosella retired the Golden Falcons in order in the top of the first and the Clippers offense was prised to hit.  Dena Frederick led the bottom of the inning off as she was walked aboard.  Maria DeMartino trotted off to first as she was walked and moved Frederick up to second.  Jaime Lorenzo, at the plate for the Clippers, hit into a fielder's choice to reach first but Frederick was out at third.  Alexa Rosella stepped up and hit a shot to right center field for DeMartino and Lorenzo to score.  Rosella then moved up into scoring position after stealin second as Victoria Pisciotta was at the plate.  Pisciotta was walked aboard to put two Clippers on.  Angela D'Amico then hit a double down the left field line to score Rosella and Pisciotta to keep the inning going.  Theresa Magnani reached first base after an error by the shortstop and the Clippers had runners on the corner.  The Golden Falcons then walked Nicole Spadero and Kristina Patrocinio to give the Clippers the 5-0 lead before the inning was over.

After another one, two, three inning from Rosella, the Clippers would have their longest at bat of the season so far in the bottom of the second. 

Jaime Lorenzo led the inning off as she was walked to first.  A single to the first baseman from Alexa Rosella put two runners on for the Clippers.  Victoria Pisciotta hit a single to centerfield to have Lorenzo cross home.  A double to left center field from Angela D'Amico sent Rosella and Pisciotta home.  Theresa Magnani knocked a single up the middle to put the Clippers one the corner with no outs.  A sacrifice fly to center field from Nicole Spadero put the Clippers on top 8-0 as D'Amico scored.  The Golden Falcons then walked Kristina Patrocinio for the second time and then Dena Frederick to load the bases up with one out.  Maria DeMartino hit a single to left field for Magnani to score and keep the bases loaded.  With Jaime Lorenzo hitting a ground ball to the second baseman Patrocinio scored and the Clippers hit double digits.  A double to center field from Alexa Rosella allowed Frederick and DeMartino to cross the plate.  With her second time up Victoria Pisciotta hit a single, this time to right field, to have Rosella score.  Angela D'Amico continued to hit after a single up the middle.  Theresa Magnani, still threatening at the plate, hit a single back to the pitcher to load the bases once again for the Clippers.  A two out single to right field from Nicole Spadero brought Pisciotta and D'Amico home and the Clippers were up 16-0. 

As Rosella continued to pitch well, the Golden Falcons got lucky as they scored one in the top of the fourth.  Rosella finished out her game as she pitched 5 innings wtih 4 strike outs as the Clippers went on to win 16-1.

Jillian Maselli was given the ball for game two for the Clippers.  After a one, two, three inning from Maselli, it was the offensive side of the ball the Clippers looked to continue from game one.

A lead-off single through the left side put Dena Frederick on first.  After Jaime Lorenzo hit into an error by the third baseman the Clippers had two runners on.  The Clippers missed and could not capitalize to get anyone home. 

The Golden Falcons threatened to score in the top of the second as they had runners on the corners but the Clippers defense was able to take care of it and go back to the bats.

The Clippers started their second game scoring in the bottom of the third as Maria DeMartino led off with a single to shortstop.  A bunt single two feet from home plate from Jaime Lorezno, moved DeMartino up to second and Lorenzo was safe at first.  Another double by Alexa Rosella, this time to left center field, scored DeMartino and Lorenzo.  Victoria Pisciotta continued to hit with a single up the middle to put runners on the corner.  Theresa Magnani, still swinging the bat hard, hit the ball to cause an error by the third baseman which allowed Rosella to score and then as the Golden Falcons tried to get Pisciotta out, another error occurred and Pisciotta scored as well to give the Clippers the 4-0 lead. 

Two more runs came in for the Clippers in the bottom of the fourth after Maria DeMartino led off once again as she hit a single to third base.  Another single up the middle, this time by Jaime Lorenzo scored DeMartino.  A two out single to left field by Victoria Pisciotta scored Lorenzo and the Clippers were up 6-0.

The Clippers scored once more in the bottom of the fifth after Theresa Magnani hit a double to right field.  A single from Kristina Patrocinio to left field scored Magnani to continue the Clippers run. 

Jillian Maselli continued to pitch well, as she let no Golden Falcon cross the plate.  With 6 full innings pitched Maselli had struck out four for the game. 

The Clippers got their eighth run in the bottom of the sixth after Jaime Lorenzo hit the fence in deep center field.  Victoria Pisciotta was walked aboard and the Clippers had two on with a runner in scoring position.  A double to centerfield by Angela D'Amico scored Lorenzo the Clippers took the game 8-0. 

Angela D'Amico hit 5 for 8 wtih 3 runs and 5 RBI's.  Alexa Rosella hit 5 for 8 as well with 3 runs and 6 RBI's.  Jaime Lorenzo knocked 4 for 7 wtih 5 runs and 2 RBI's as Victoria Pisciotta also hitting 4 for 7 wtih 4 runs and 3 RBI's.  Theresa Magnani knocked 3 for 6 with 1 run and 1 RBI. 

The Clippers will host Chestnut Hill College this Saturday at 1:00pm.
