Clippers stop Rams in tracks as they win big in double header
The Clippers headed to Philadelphia University to face off in an Easter weekend double header. Dena Frederick led the Clippers first game off as she was walked aboard. Frederick moved up to second as Maria DeMartino was hit by pitch. The Clippers loaded the bases as Alexa Rosella was walked aboard. After Victoria Pisciotta was walked with two outs DeMartino came across the plate and the Clippers were on the board. Nicole Spadero was up next at the plate and was hit by a pitch and Rosella crossed the plate and the Clippers led after the top of the first 2-0.
The Clippers ca
lled upon veteran Alexa Rosella to pitch the first game of the
double header. With getting through the first two innings
unscathed. The Rams put up a run in the bottom of the third
as they hit a ball over the fence. The Rams added one more
run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game up with the
Clippers.
In the top of the fifth inning and one out already Alexa Rosella was walked aboard. After a wild pitch Rosella moved up to second base. Victoria Pisciotta stepped up to the plate and hit a two out single to left field to score Rosella. With the run the Clippers took the lead once again.
It was up to Rosella to finish out the game on the mound. Rosella finished out her last three innings on the mound with only letting one person on base. Rosella pitched a complete game with gaining her first win while striking out three.
Dena Frederick led the second game off as she reached first base on an error by the Rams third baseman. After Maria DeMartino put down a sacrifice bunt to move Frederick to second. A one out single by Alexa Rosella put two Clippers on the bases. A hard hit ball by Angela D'Amico caused an error by the shortstop and allowed Frederick to score. The Clippers loaded the bases as Victoria Pisciotta was walked aboard. A two out single by Theresa Magnani drove in DeMartino and D'Amico and the Clippers were on the board with three runs.
The Clippers went at it again in the top of the second as Dena
Frederick got on base again with an error by the Rams. A two
out single by Jaime Lorenzo shifted Frederick to second.
Another error by the Rams allowed Alexa Rosella to get on
base. With the error Frederick was able to move up to third
and then score on another error. Lorenzo moved up as well as
found a way to score as well, adding another two runs for the
Clippers. A single to left field by Angela D'Amico scored
Rosella and the Clippers were leading 6-0 after two innings of
play.
Jillan Maselli was given the ball for the second game for the Clippers. As Maselli was going strong, she only allowed four people on base through her first six innings of play. Keeping the Rams at bay the Clippers went ahead and scored one more run in the top of the seventh inning. Angela D'Amico reached first on an error to lead the Clippers off. Another single from Theresa Magnani put two Clippers on the bases. D'Amico scored off of a two out double Kristina Patrocinio.
The Rams, down 7-0, headed into their last three outs. The Rams got one run and only got one as Maselli finished them off as she pitched a completed game.
The Clippers defeated the Rams 3-2 in game one and 7-1 in game two.
Alexa Rosella hit 2 for 6 with 4 runs scored. Theresa Magnani hit 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's. Kristina Patrocinio hit 3 for 7 with an RBI for the day.
The Clippers will host Post University on Tuesday at 3:00pm in a CACC double header.
