Clippers split double header with Dominican

The Clippers headed to Orangeburg, NY to face off against the Dominican College Chargers.  The Clippers started their first game as they struggled through some nerves in the first couple of innings as they were unable to get anyone to score. 

The Chargers however showed their dominance as they put up eight runs in the first two innings.  With a change in pitching staff and the nerveness disapating the Clippers halted the Chargers for the next few innings.

The Clippers headed into the top of the fifth where it could have been their last three outs if they didn't score.  The Chargers walked Dena Frederick and Maria DeMartino to start the inning.  A sacrifice bunt by Jaime Lorenzo moved both runners up and into scoring position.  Frederick scored off of a passed ball and the Clippers game would not be over.  A single to right field by Alexa Rosella scored DeMartino.  A two out double from Angela D'Amico allowed Rosella to score and the Clippers put three on the board for the game to continue on. 

The Clippers were able to shut down the Chargers in the fifth inning.  The Chargers then put two up in the sixth but it wasn't enough to end the game.

The top of the seventh the Clippers struck hard as a single through the left side by Jaime Lorenzo started it all.  A one out double to right field by Victoria Pisciotta scored Lorenzo.  With a single to centerfield by Angela D'Amico the Clippers had runners on the corners.  Theresa Magnani hit a sacrifice line drive to right field to score Pisciotta.  With two outs Jillian Maselli ripped a ball to right field for a single.  Kristina Patrocinio then stepped up to the plate and with a shot over the centerfield fence, Patrocinio hit a three run home run to move the Clippers within two runs of the Chargers. 

The Chargers halted the Clippers on the next batter and the Clippers fell 8-10 in game one.

Game two brought on more intensity as the Clippers went at the Chargers right away.  Theresa Magnani was on the mound for the Clippers and through two innings was looking good.  The Chargers put up two runs in the third but Magnani beared down and finished out the inning and went on to shut them down through the rest of the game as she struck out six.

The Clippers went runless in through five innings and with a single to centerfield by Dena Frederick in the top of the sixth the Clippers had something going.  Maria DeMartino reached first on a Charger error and the Clippers had two runners on.  A single to right field from Jaime Lorenzo scored Frederick and the Charger lead was cut in half.  A one out single from Victoria Pisciotta scored DeMartino to tie the game for the Clippers.  Angela D'Amico then stepped up and hit a single to right center field as Lorenzo crossed home to give the Clippers the 3-2 lead. 

The Clippers scoring ended their and with Theresa Magnani finishing out the game in the seventh the Clippers won 3-2.

Jaime Lorenzo hit 4 for 6 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Victoria Pisciott and Angela D'Amico each hit 3 for 7 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI's. 

The Clippers will host Georgian Court University this Saturday for their last home game of the season.
