Lady Clippers score big over Briarcliffe College
The Lady Clippers headed to Bethpage, NY to face off against Briarcliffe College. The Clippers placed Freshman Theresa Magnani on the mound for today's game.
The Clippers gave up the early run in the first inning but rallied
back in the top of the second. Angela D'Amico led the
inning off with a single. Theresa Magnani hit into a
fielder's choice to get on base and unfortunately sending D'Amico
back to the bench. With two outs after Maria Demartino's at
bat, Briarcliffe then walked Kristina Patrocinio and Jenna Stueber
to load the bases. With a single from Dena Frederick, Magnani
and Patrocinio scored. Briarcliffe then walked Victoria
Pisciotta loading the bases one more time. After Jaime
Lorenzo was walked on board another run came across the plate for
the Clippers. Alexa Rosella was walked as well adding another
run up on the board. With Angela D'Amico back at the plate,
she hit another single and knocked in two more runs for the
Clippers giving them the 6-1 lead after the second inning.
With Magnani on the mound and the rest of the Clippers as back up they held off Briarcliffe from advancing past second base.
The Clippers went on to score four more runs in the last three innings to finalize their win of 10-1 over Briarcliffe.
Angela D'Amico hit 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's while Jaime Lorenzo hit 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Dena Frederick knocked in 3 runs going 2 for 5 while Maria DeMartino hit 2 for 4.
Theresa Magnani picked up her third win of the season going a complete game 7 innings with 6 strike outs and just 4 hits.
The Clippers start their CACC play this weekend as they take on the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning in Wilmington, Delaware this Saturday at 1:00pm.
