Softball Plunges for Special Olympics

Bronxville, NY - Softball Plunges for Special Olympics

On Saturday, December 5th, the Concordia College NY Women's Softball Team traveled to Playland in Rye, New York for the 2nd Annual Special Olympics Rye Polar Plunge.

The Polar Plunge is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics, New York chapter.  It was rainy and cold but that didn't stop the many groups from coming together and raising money for this special organization.  The Clippers softball team was able to raise $350 for the Special Olympic Athletes.  At 12:00pm the team, along with the many other participants headed right into the ocean.  "The plunge into the water was cold but well worth it for the softball team to give back to those athletes who will one day participate in the Special Olympics," states Jillian Maselli.

"Though most of the girls were battling colds, they came out anyway and supported this great cause," states Coach Laoutaris.  "We had a great time and hope to be able to continue to support the Special Olympics as we are all athletes."
