Concordia Falls to Adelphi
Garden City, NY - The Concordia College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to the Panthers of Adelphi University yesterday afternoon in Garden City, NY. The Panthers took the opening contest 6-4 and followed up with a 2-1 win in the second game. The Clippers fall to 10-16 overall and 3-11 in the East Coast Conference. The Panthers improve to 26-12 on the year and 10-4 in conference action.
In the first game, freshman Ashley Corriss (Sayville, NY) hit two doubles and finished with 2 RBI for the Clippers. Sophomore Dena Frederick (White Plains, NY) recorded a hit and an RBI and senior Alex Mazza (Bronx, NY) had a hit and scored 2 runs for the Clippers. Sophomore Alexa Rosella (Howard Beach, NY) pitched a complete game for the Clippers, throwing 6 inning and allowing only two hits and 6 earned runs. Rosella falls to 6-4 on the year.
In the second game, senior Caitlin Orlando (Mineola, NY) blasted her first home run of the year, a solo shot to left field in the 3rd inning. Orlando also hit a double in the 5th inning to finish with 2 hits.
Sophomore Jillian Maselli (Bellmore, NY) picks-up the loss for the Clippers in 4 innings of work and allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs. Maselli falls to 2-7 overall.
Concordia will travel to Dobbs Ferry, NY on Friday, April 24th to face the Mavericks of Mercy College in an ECC doubleheader. The action begins at 3:00 PM.
