Softball Schedule Released

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College softball team has released it's 2008-2009 schedule, as announced by the Athletics Department.

The Clippers will open the 2009 spring season at the National Training Center in Clermont, FL for a series of games from Sunday, March 1st until Saturday, March 7th.

Concordia will return from Florida and open East Coast Conference competition at home against the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, March 11th. Concordia will also host four additional doubleheaders at Clipper Softball Field, including ECC foes Queens College, C.W. Post and NYIT, as well as a non-conference twinbill against Post University on Thursday, April 16th.

Concordia will travel to play non-conference games at Felician College, Bloomfield College and Goldey-Beacom College.

The 2008 season saw the Clippers finish at 9-21 overall and 5-15 in the East Coast Conference. Concordia was led by sophomore Jaime Lorenzo (Eastchester, NY), who batted .403 for the season with 29 hits and 11 RBI. Senior Julie Walsh (Bellerose, NY) will head into her senior season after leading the Clippers in hits (30), runs scored (18) and RBI (16). Sophomore Dena Frederick (White Plains, NY) senior Alex Mazza (Bronx, NY) and sophomore Alexa Rosella (Howard Beach, NY) will all look to contribute to the Clippers offense, after finishing with 27, 20 and 19 hits, respectively, last season.

On the mound, Concordia will rely on the arms Rosella, senior Kelly Moran (Fishkill, NY), and sophomore Jillian Maselli (Bellmore, NY). Rosella finished with a 2-3 record and posted a 4.03 ERA. Moran finished with a 7.63 ERA and a 1-8 record and Maselli led the team with 28 strikeouts and had a 4-8 record.
