Softball Signs Five During Early Signing Period
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College softball team landed five recruits during the NCAA Early Signing Period, as announced by the Athletics Department today. Theresa Magnani, Tori Ferrante, Kristina Patrocinio, Laura Brezovsky and Samantha Sherding will join the Clippers during the 2009-2010 season.
Magnani is a pitcher/1B from Plainedge HS in Massapequa, NY. Ferrante is an outfielder and Patrocinio is an outfielder/middle infielder and both players played at John P. Stevens HS in Edison, NJ. Brezovsky and Sherding also have familiarity with one another, as Brezovsky was a catcher and Sherding pitched at Our Lady of Victory Academy in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
"My assistant coach did it again," states head coach Kathy Laoutaris. "Assistant Coach Bob D'Avanzo went out and scouted every possible tournament this summer and brought back names of many talented players". "We are very happy and fortunate that we were able to sign all 5 of these young ladies in the early signing period. Both coaches feel that this will add the necessary depth to key positions.
The clippers were able to bring in six freshmen for the 2008-2009 season and feel that the addition of these five young ladies compliments the current group. The Clippers begin their season this year on March 2nd at the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
The Clippers will have their home opener on Wednesday, March 11th against the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport at 2:30 PM.
