Concordia Falls to Dowling
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College softball team lost both games of an ECC doubleheader to the Golden Lions of Dowling College 5-2 and 6-1 yesterday at Clipper Softball Field in Bronxville, NY.
Freshman Jaime Lorenzo (Eastchester, NY) finished the day with 3 hits and scored a run in the first game. Freshman Alexa Rosella (Howard Beach, NY) collected 4 hits, 2 RBI and scored a run in the second game. Junior Caitlin Orlando (Mineola, NY) had a hit and an RBI and junior Julie Walsh (Bellerose, NY) finished with a hit and scored a run.
Junior Kelly Moran (Fishkill, NY) pitched 7 innings in game 1, allowing 9 hits and 3 earned runs to go along with 2 strikeouts. Moran falls to 1-7 on the season. Rosella was on the mound for the Clippers in game 2. Rosella also threw 7 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. Rosella suffered her first loss and falls to 1-1.
For the Golden Lions, Stephanie Compitello finished with 2 hits, including a solo home run in game 2. Compitello also drove in 3 runs and scored a run. Taras Wallace concluded the day with 4 hits, 2 RBI and scored 4 runs for Dowling. Kacie Pinto had 3 hits and crossed the plate two times for the Golden Lions.
The Clippers fall to 5-17 overall and 1-11 in the East Coast Conference. Dowling improves to 18-23 overall and 6-6 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will be back in action on Thursday, April 17th, as
they host the Mavericks of Mercy College in an ECC doubleheader at
Clipper Softball Field. Game one will begin at 3:00 PM.
