Softball Signs Five for 2008-2009 Season

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College softball team has signed five recruits during the NCAA Early Signing Period, as announced by the Athletics Department today. The following young ladies will be joining the Clippers in the Fall of 2008.

Nicole Spadaro- (IF)               Merrick, NY                      WC Mepham Senior HS

Jenna Stueber   (C/IF)            New York, NY                  St. Johns Prep.

Angela D'Amico (UT)               Matawan, NJ                   Old Bridge HS West/East

Maria DeMartino (IF/P/OF)      Staten Island, NY            St. John Villa Academy

Victoria Pisciotta (C/OF/3B)     New Hyde Park, NY         Kellenberg Memorial HS


"All of the young ladies that are signed will add versatility to the Clipper squad. They each play more than one position which will add depth to the team." says Head Coach Kathy Laoutaris.

"I am very excited; this is the most players we have signed in the early signing period."  "My assistant coach, Bob D'Avanzo really out did himself this summer.  He traveled to a tournament or showcase every weekend".  "We are very lucky to have such a talented group join our returning core", states coach Laoutaris.

When asked if they are finished recruiting for next season coach Laoutaris says,   "We still are looking at many talented athletes, our goal is to try and bring in a few more".

The Clippers will kick-off the 2007-2008 softball season in Claremont, FL on March 2nd, as part of their annual Spring Training Trip. Concordia will open up at home on Sunday, March 16th against the Skyhawks of Stonehill College.
