Evangelisti and Nilsson Sweep CACC Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards for Second Time This Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Concordia College junior Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week while freshman William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) has been named the CACC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is the second time both players have been selected to the respective awards during the same week this season.

Evangelisti went 3-0 in both singles and doubles play as the Clippers picked up three wins in CACC action last week. Against Post, he would earn a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Jonathan Compres in the No. 2 singles match and alongside freshman Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) the duo topped Peter Rossel and Samuel Urban in the No. 3 match. Two days later against Chestnut Hill, Evangelisti would earn a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the No. 1 singles match against Felix Andre and in the No. 1 doubles match with junior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) earned an 8-4 win against Lucas Bocaletto and Pedro Regalin. Evangelisti concluded the week with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 singles match against Jefferson's Oskar Haedicke and an 8-5 win alongside Fenoaltea against Luis Molina Megias and Haedicke in the No. 1 match.

Nilsson would go 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles play this past week as he began with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 3 singles match against Post's Ivan Rajevac. In the No. 1 doubles match freshman Axel Oljons (Stockholm, Sweden) and Nilsson would fall to Ludvig Henrikson and Nikola Crvelin, 8-2. Against Chestnut Hill's Jesus Darias in the No. 2 singles match, Nilsson earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory as he would also capture an 8-5 win with Oljons in the No. 2 doubles match against Jesus Darias and Antoine Gautier. To conclude the week, Nilsson topped Liviu Trifoi of Jefferson 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match and earned an 8-3 victory with Oljons against Jacobo Atri and Joseph Sison in the No. 2 doubles match.

Concordia (12-4, 3-0 CACC) will close out their CACC regular season schedule on Wednesday at USciences with a 2 p.m. match in Philadelphia, Pa.
