Bronxville, N.Y. – The No. 10 Concordia men's tennis team hosted Caldwell College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Tuesday afternoon. The Clippers would win the match with ease, 9-0, to remain undefeated in CACC play.
Concordia Sophomore's Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) began the match with an 8-0 victory over Al Navas and Cole Downs in the #2 doubles match. Sophomore's Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland) and Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) would follow with an 8-1 win over Michael Mongelli and Chris Skarbelis and then senior Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and junior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) concluded doubles play with an 8-3 victory over Andrej Bozovic and Juan Arencibia in the #1 match.
In singles play Majauskas would earn a shutout win over Navas 6-0, 6-0 in the #3 match to give the Clippers a 4-0 overall lead. Senior David Tisserand (Lyon, France) concluded his #2 match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Arencibia and then Boldarev captured a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bozovic in his #1 match.
Senior Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Frey would both win their singles matches in shutout fashion, 8-0. Lindell defeated Downs in the #4 match while Frey won against James Stark in the #6 match. Ojanen ended the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Steve Petrosino in the #5 match as Concordia defeated Caldwell for the 10th straight time since their first match in 2000.
The Clippers (8-2, 2-0 CACC) will next travel to South Carolina to face the No. 7th-ranked Bearcats of Lander University. The match will take place on the campus of Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C. at 2:30pm on Thursday.
