Pensacola, FL – The seventh-ranked Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team opened up their three-game Florida trip on Friday afternoon. The Clippers battled Delta State and came away with a 5-1 victory, their 10th of the season.
In doubles competition, Concordia's Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) won at #1 doubles, 9-7 to begin the match. Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) and Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) followed with an 8-1 victory at #2 doubles to take a 2-0 lead in the overall score. Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) and David Tisserand (Lyon, France) were unable to capture the win at #3 doubles as they fell 8-5.
Piludu continued his strong play with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at #1 singles which gave the Clippers a 3-1 advantage. Both Lindell and Tisserand rebounded from their doubles losses to capture wins in their singles matches. Andreas captured a 6-1, 6-1 win at #4 singles while David took home a 6-4, 6-1 victory at #3 singles to give Concordia the overall win.
The Clippers (10-4, 4-0 CACC) will continue their schedule in Florida with a 1pm match on Saturday against the number two-ranked West Florida State Argos.
