Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team have been ranked #4 in the nation and #1 in the East Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in their preseason rankings. The rankings take into account only NCAA Division II member institutions.
Within the national rankings, the Clippers also received recognition within singles and doubles. Sophomore Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy), who recently played in the Division II Singles Championship Title match last month, is ranked #4 in Singles. Joining Piludu in the rankings is sophomore David Tisserand (Lyon, France) ranked at #14 and freshman Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) ranked at #38. In doubles at the national level, the duo of Olfans and senior Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) received votes but are currently sitting outside the Top-25.
In the East Region, Concordia edged rival Queens (NY) for the #1 ranking as seven of the Top-20 Singles players are on the Clippers. Piludu and Tisserand grabbed the top two spots in the Singles Rankings while Olfans is the #4 ranked player in the East Region. Freshman Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania), junior Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Bazula captured positions 11-13 while freshman Mark Mozer (Brest, Belarus) managed to secure the 19th position.
In doubles within the East Region, Concordia is ranked in three of the Top-10 positions. Bazula and Olfans are ranked #3 while Majausjas/Piludu and Lindell/Tisserand are ranked #5 and #7 respectively.
