Clippers down Devils in straight sets

Box score

The Clippers went down to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia to face off against the Devils on the hard courts.  Doubles hit the courts first as Felix Missal and Raphael Namias slid up to the number one spot for the day.  Serving well was the key for them as they dominated their service games.  The Devils found a way to nab one game during the match away from Missal and Namias.  With three breaks of serve Missal and Namias cruised to an 8-1 victory.

Tamas Dobrotka and Andreas Lindell stayed comfortable at their usually number two doubles slot.  Dobrotka and Lindell followed in Missal and Namias shoes as they played well.  With playing well they grabbed all of their service games.  Dobrotka and Lindell broke the Devils serve several times to grab games while they surrendered just one game in the match.  The pair defeated their opponents 8-1.

Dane Ostilly and Shaolin Chandam stepped to the doubles court for the first time this season.  With each doubles team staying on serve the challenge was who would break and stay ahead.  With the powerful serve of Ostilly and quick feet of Chandam the Clippers team broke away first and defeated their opponent to grab their first doubles win with an 8-5 score.

As the Clippers were already up 3-0 over the Devils, the singles matches would be warming up.

Andrey Boldarev stepped up to play in the number one singles spot for the day.  With giving up an early game Boldarev hit angles and grabbed winners to break the Devils serve all while staying on his own.  Boldarev completed his first set with ease and a score of 6-1.  The second set saw Boldarev in fine form as he would mix his shots up.  His Devils opponent, this time, grabbed two games from Boldarev but Boldarev got the better of his opponent.  Finishing his opponent with winners Boldarev grabbed the match with a second set score fo 6-2.

Felix Missal was bumped up to play at the number two position for the day.  As adversary across the net grabbed an early game Missal put the pedal to the metal and was able to break service game after service while staying dominate on his own serve.  A first set victory of 6-1 set Missal up for the second set.  Continuing his dominance on court Missal pulled many winners, forehand and backhand, out of his artilery to move on with a 6-1 second set.

Tamas Dobrotka, this week's CACC Player of the Week, showed exactly how he earned that honor.  With his first set, Dobrotka served well and was able to hit corners of the court to pass his opponent.  Only giving up one game in the set, Dobrotka sailed easily in with a first set score of 6-1.  Moving on to set two Dobrotka's opponent grabbed two games.  Not settling for any more Dobrotka stepped up his game and dominated the rest of the way and won the match with a second set score of 6-2.  Dobrotka is the first Clippers to reach 10 wins this season.

With the Clippers having already won the match with their six wins the four, five and six singles would be shortened matches.

Raphael Namias played his game of hit until you are tired to move quickly through his match.  Breaking his opponents serve not once, not twice, but four times gave Namias an edge as he would not give a single game away.  Namias defeated his Devil with a score of 8-0.

Andreas Lindell continued his play of having a killer instinct.  Surrendering only one game in the match Lindell went in for the kill every time and came away an 8-1 winner at the number five slot.

Shaolin Chandam finished out the Clippers singles line-up at the number six spot.  Chandam stayed on serve for a while as his Devils opponent got two games.  Chandam then broke his opponents serve and came out a winner to complete the sweep for the Clippers with a score of 8-2.
