Clippers strike fast with 9-0 win over the Deacons
The Clippers Men's Tennis team traveled to Bloomfield College to face off against the Deacons in a CACC match-up. With the cold and the threatening rain all matches were decided to be played as 8 game pro-sets (the first one to 8 games wins, winning by two).
The doubles matches started off first as usual for the Clippers. Andreas Lindell and Tamas Dobrotka slid up to play at the number one double spot. With Bloomfield winning just one game on their own serve the pair of Lindell and Dobrotka cruised over their opponents winning the match 8-1.
The pair of Felix Missal and Raphael Namias moved up to the the
number two doubles spot for the day as they were able to break
the Deacons serve not once but four times as they held their own
and came away with an 8-0 win. Andrey Boldarev paired up with
Shaolin Chandam in the number three doubles spot and followed suit
as they were able to take down the Deacons with another 8-0
victory.
As the Clippers led 3-0 over the Deacons the teams warmed up for their singles matches. Alex Grubin held court at the number one singles spot for the day as he dominated his Deacon opponent with an 8-0 victory.
Felix Missal moved up to the number two singles position. As each won three games Missal stepped up and was able to break his Deacon opponents serve twice and take the win with an 8-3 victory and sealing the Clippers match win.
Andreas Lindell, continuing to play well all weekend, was moved up to the number three singles slot for the day. Lindell had no trouble as he broke his opponents serve all four times and captured the 8-0 win.
Tamas Dobrotka, at the number four spot, was also dominate in his match. Dobrotka followed suit with Lindell and Grubin and put himself on cruise control for the 8-0 win.
Shaolin Chandam, at the number five spot, picked up his second win of the season with an 8-0 victory of his own.
Finishing out the singles was Dane Ostilly at the number six
spot. Ostilly had no trouble with his Deacon opponent as he
held court with an 8-0 victory giving the Clippers the clean sweep
over the Deacons.
The Clippers will host Post University on Tuesday at 3:00pm for the next CACC match.
