Clippers nail a 9-0 win over Monmouth to start spring season
The Clippers hosted their spring season opener against Division I opponent Monmouth University. The Clippers took a 2-0 to start the match off as Monmouth had to default two games. Doubles hit the court first for the Clippers. Andrey Boldarev and Alex Grubin, the #1 doubles team, showed their skills with an 8-3 victory over their opponents Laurence Heads and David Sherwood. Tamas Dobrotka and Andreas Lindell knocked their opponents, Harvey Bhalla, and Oliver Grimbly, off quickly with an 8-2 victory.
The singles matches were up next with the Clippers leading 4-0 over Monmouth. A shift in the lineup placed Tamas Dobrotka in the #1 singles position for the match. After an opening set of 6-3 and being up 1-0 to start the second set Dobrotka's oppenent Heads retired.
Rafael Namias, playing at the #2 singles position for the day,
faced off against Sherwood. With a lengthy 6-3 first set
victory, Namias went on to a 6-0 second set win to give the
Clippers another point for the match.
Felix Missal took on Harvey Bhalla in #3 Singles. With a
6-1 first set, Missal was on cruise control through the rest of the
match. Missal
won the second set 6-3.
Andreas Lindell moved up to play at the #4 singles spot facing off with Ben Dashiell. Sealing a 6-1 victory in the first set Lindell then went on to nab another victory with a 6-2 second set win.
Lastly, Dane Ostilly faced Oliver Grimbly in the #5 singles
position. With Ostilly dominating the first set with a 6-0
win the second set looked to be close as well. Ostilly though
struggled and the second set went into a tie breaker. Ostilly
came through in the clutch with an 11-9 tie break win to take the
second set 7-6.
The Clippers sealed a 9-0 over Monmouth.
The Clippers will head to Florida for a spring break week of play.
