Clippers make it through to last day of ITA Nationals
Mobile, AL - Clippers make it through to last day of ITA Nationals
The four member of the Clippers tennis teams competed in day two of the ITA National Tournament.
Cristina Oliveira and Ola Roberts competed in the doubles
tournament for 5th place today. With winning their
second of two matches yesterday the pair was ready for competition
again today. With a late withdraw from Lynn doubles pair,
Oliveira and Roberts won the match by forfeit and took
5th place in the tournament.
On the men's side of the tournament Andrey Boldarev and Alex Grubin just had one double match today as they played for a slot in the finals of the tournament. Boldarev and Grubin took an early break in the first set and sailed with a 6-1 win against their opponents from Bloomsburg. The second set for the pair came with little trouble as they took the set 6-3 and headed into the finals.
Andrey Boldarev had one more match for the day as he would take on
his singles opponent from Western New Mexico in the
semifinals. With Boldarev dropping the first set 4-6 he would
have to work hard to defeat his opponent. Boldarev dominated
the second set with a 6-1 victory to force the match into a third
and deciding set. Boldarev was the first to break and took
the match with the third set victory, 6-4.
