Men's Tennis Dominates Army Invitational
West Point, NY - The Concordia College men's tennis team turned in a strong performance at the Army Invitational by winning 2 of the 4 flights in singles play and capturing the doubles flight in West Point, NY.
Sophomore Alex Grubin (Belgrade, Serbia) won the top flight by default over Filippo Figliomeni (Genova, Italy).
In the second flight, Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) defeated teammate Richie Malobricky (Pulheim, Germany) 6-4, 7-6.
In the third flight, junior Henning Ruenz (Muelheim-Kaerlich, Germany) won the 3rd place match over Karim Belhadj (London, England) and senior Vito Galatioto (Yonkers, NY) fell in the 7th place match in the fourth flight to Peter Williams of Army 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles, Grubin and Ruenz defeated the Army duo of Phil Muhawi and Tripp Johnson 8-6.
The Clippers will return to action on both Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21 to compete in the Satran Invitational.
