Clippers Pound Spartans 9-0
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's tennis team cruised to their 9th straight win with a 9-0 victory over the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans yesterday at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. Concordia improves to 10-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the East Coast Conference. The Spartans fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-4 in ECC competition.
Senior Karim Belhadj (London, England) and freshman Viktor Kim (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) won a 8-0 decision over Paul Schuman and Ed Reiter at No. 1 doubles. Senior Vito Galatioto (Yonkers, NY) and freshman Joseph Giamboi (Brooklyn, NY) took down Michael Antolini and Carl Johnson at No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-5. The Clippers won No. 3 doubles by default.
In singles play, Concordia took No. 1 singles by default. Giamboi defeated Jerome Dunbar 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. All remaining singles flights were won by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Concordia will host the Red Storm of St. John's University on Friday, April 10th at the Meyers Tennis Center. First serve is set for 12:00 PM.
