Men's Tennis Bounces Back with 9-0 Win
St. Augustine, FL - After three straight defeats to nationally ranked teams, the Concordia College men's tennis team overwhelmed the Saints of Flagler College with a 9-0 victory at the Flagler Tennis Center in St. Augustine, FL. The No. 8 ranked Clippers improve to 2-3 on the season. Flagler College falls to 4-3 overall.
In doubles play, the Clippers fought off the Saints to win the top two positions 9-7 and 8-6. At No. 3 doubles, senior Josep Molet (Sabadell, Spain) and junior Henning Ruenz (Muelheim-Kaerlich, Germany) cruised to an 8-0 victory.
In singles competition, the Clippers dominated the Saints with straight set wins, with the exception of No. 4 singles. Sophomore Richi Malobicky (Pulheim, Germany) defeated J.P. Llano 6-2 in the first set and dropped the second set 6-3 before rallying to win the No. 4 singles point 10-6 in the third set.
Concordia will begin East Coast Conference play on Saturday, March 21st, as they host the Golden Lions of Dowling College at the Meyers Tennis Center. The action begins at 1:00 PM.
