Men's Tennis Dominates Bears 9-0

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's tennis team won their fourth straight match by beating the Bears of Kutztown University 9-0 yesterday afternoon at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. Concordia improves to 5-3 overall, while Kutztown drops to 4-3 on the season.

The Clippers took all six singles flights in straight sets. Freshman Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) needed a tiebreaker in the first set 7-6 (7-3) before coming back in the second set for a 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Lukas Labitsch. Sophomore Alex Grubin (Belgrade, Serbia) defeated Santiago Baquerizo at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-0.

The Clippers began the competition by sweeping the doubles matches. Grubin and Boldarev teamed to take No. 1 doubles 8-4. Senior Karim Belhadj (London, England) and freshman Viktor Kim (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) defeated Kaushik Das and Rubens Vianna 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. In the third doubles position, Arpit Sharma and Jonathan Goulet fell to junior Henning Ruenz (Muelheim-Kaerlich, Germany) and sophomore Richi Malobicky (Pulheim, Germany) by a score of 8-5.

Concordia will jump back into East Coast Conference action on Tuesday, March 31st, as they travel to Flushing, NY to face the Queens College Knights. The action begins at 3:00 PM.
