Bronxville, NY - Sophomores Alex Grubin (Belgrade, Serbia) and Richard Malobicky (Pulheim, Germany) both qualified for the ITA National Small College Championships Presented by the USTA on October 16th - 19th at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, AL.

 

 

Grubin, who is the top ranked NCAA Division II men's tennis player and defending ITA National Small College Tournament champion, qualified by winning the men's "A" singles tournament. Grubin defeated fellow Clipper Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) in the finals 6-4, 6-0 this past Monday at the ITA Regional Tournament.

Grubin and Malobicky teamed up to win the men's "A" doubles tournament. It was an all Clippers finals, as the duo defeated Boldarev and junior Henning Ruenz (Muelheim-Kaerlich, Germany) 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 to advance to the ITA National Tournament.

In the men's "B" doubles tournament, seniors Vito Galatioto (Yonkers, NY) and Karim Belhadj (London, England) were victorious in the finals over Mike Leone and Jon Burke of Stonehill College by a score of 8-6.
