Grubin Named ECC Player of the Week

Central Islip, NY - Sophomore Alex Grubin (Belgrade, Serbia) has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office yesterday.

 

 

Grubin helped the Clippers defeat the Panthers of Adelphi University 9-0 in their only contest of the week.  Grubin defeated Tomasz Walczak at #1 singles 6-0, 6-1 and teamed with sophomore Nik Boerger (Muenster, Germany) at #1 doubles to beat Walczak and Alex Molotsky 8-4.

Grubin, who is the #1 ranked men's tennis player in NCAA Division II,  improves to 10-1 in singles competition this season. His only loss came at the hands of Mizlav Hizak of NAIA Embry-Riddle University. Hizak is the #1 ranked men's tennis player in NAIA competition. In doubles play, Grubin improves to 10-3 this season.

The Clippers are ranked 12th in the Nation in NCAA Division II Men's Tennis and sport a 7-2 overall record and 2-0 in the East Coast Conference.

The Clippers return to action on Wednesday, April 2nd, as they host the Mavericks of Mercy College at the Meyers Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3:00 PM.
