Clippers Dominate STAC 9-0
Sparkill, NY - Senior Rodrigo Teixeira (Vitoria, Brazil) turned in a strong performance in both singles and doubles to help the Clipper defeat the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College 9-0 yesterday in Sparkill, NY. The 12th ranked Clippers improve to 12-2 overall and stay perfect in the East Coast Conference at 5-0.
Teixeira stepped in at #1 singles and improved to 15-1 on the season with an 8-0 win over Ryan Maher. All six singles matches were won by identical 8-0 scores, as the matches were played using an 8 game pro-set scoring format.
In doubles play, senior Kirill Azovtsev (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Vlad Malkin (Moscow, Russia) picked-up their first win at #1 doubles with an 8-2 triumph over Jeff Boyce and Michael Antolini.
The Clippers claim the #1 seed in the upcoming East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Tournament, which is slated to begin on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY.
