Clippers Sweep Weekly Honors

Mamaroneck, NY - Freshman Alex Grubin (Serbia) was voted East Coast Conference Player of the Week and Henning Ruenz (Muelheim-Kaerlich) was named East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the East Coast Conference ofice today.

Grubin swept two singles matches this past week at #1 singles, winning both 6-1, 6-1 against Stonehill College and Bentley College. Grubin was equally impressive in doubles competition, teamming with junior Rodrigo Teixeira (Vitoria, Brazil) at #1 doubles to win 8-1 and 8-2. The freshman is ranked 33rd in the nation in Division II men's tennis and 3rd in the East Region. Grubin improves his overall record this season to 6-1 in singles competition and 6-2 in doubles play.

Ruenz was also undefeated this week, winning two singles matches and two doubles matches. Ruenz teammed with sophomore Sabyasachi Bose (Calcutta, India) at #2 doubles for an 8-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College. Ruenz lated defeated Christian Varas of STAC at #3 singles 6-0, 6-0. The freshman is 7-0 in singles play and 7-0 in doubles competition. Ruenz is the only player on the Concordia roster that is undefeated in singles and doubles competition this season having played at least two matches in each category.
