Clippers Defeat Saints 9-0
St. Augustine, FL - The Concordia College men's tennis team won their third consecutive match on their Spring Break Trip, beating the Saints of Flagler College 9-0 yesterday in St. Augustine, FL. Junior Kirill Azovtsev (St. Petersburg, Russia) defeated Kyle Maloof 6-2 and 6-4 at #4 singles and teamed with Vlad Malkin (Moscow, Russia) at #2 doubles to win 8-2. The closest doubles contest was at #3 doubles, as John Cassas (Bogota, Colombia) and Nik Boerger (Muenster, Germany) downed Maloof and Mate Provensic 9-8 (7-5). Junior Rodrigo Teixeira (Vitoria, Brazil) needed 3 sets to top Aaron Haines at #3 singles. Teixeira lost the first set 6-2 before storming back to claim the last two sets 6-2 and 6-3. Teixeira was also victorious at #1 doubles with freshman Alex Grubin (Serbia) over Mario Jutronic and Jeremy Lamande by the score of 8-3.
The Clippers have won four consecutive matches and improve their record to 4-1 overall.
Concordia will wrap-up their Spring Break Trip on Friday, March 9th, as they travel to Daytona Beach, FL to tangle with the Eagles of Embry-Riddle University.
