Clippers Take Down #17 Tars 5-4

Winter Park, FL - Freshman Nik Boerger (Muenster, Germany) won matches in both singles and doubles competition to help the Clippers defeat Rollins College 5-4 yesterday in Winter Park, FL. The Clippers are ranked #32 in Division II men's tennis and the Tars are ranked #17 in Division II.

Boerger defeated Kevin Stickney 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at #6 singles and teamed with junior John Cassas (Bogota, Colombia) at #3 doubles to defeat Pablo Seijo and Mike Compton 9-7.

Concordia was victorious at 1st, 2nd and 3rd singles to claim the win. Freshman Alex Grubin (Serbia) downed Adrian Tan at #1 singles 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore Josep Molet (Sabadell, Spain) topped Jonathan Gomez 6-4, 6-3 at #2 singles and Vlad Malkin (Moscow, Russia) won 7-5 in the first set and closed out the win in the second set 6-1 at #5 singles.

The win improves the Clippers record to 2-1 overall on the season. Rollins College falls to 4-2.

Concordia will be back in action on Tuesday, March 6th, as they battle the Cougars of Averett University at 9:00 AM.
