Clippers Top Bulldogs 8-1
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College men's tennis team defeated the Bulldogs of Bryant University 8-1 yesterday at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers decisively won all three doubles flights. Junior Rodrigo Teixeira (Vitoria, Brazil) and freshman Alex Grubin (Serbia) defeated Dylan Whiting and Matt Sheppard-Lupo 8-3 at #1 doubles. Concordia won the other doubles matches 8-3 and 8-0.
In singles competition, Josep Molet (Sabadell, Spain) disposed of Kevin Gardiner at #1 singles 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Nik Boerger (Muenster, Germany) was victorious over Craig Drushella 6-1, 6-2 at #4 singles and Sabyasachi Bose (Calcutta, India) downed Ben Caisse 6-4, 6-2 at #5 singles. The lone loss for Concordia was at #6 singles. Sheppard-Lupo rallied from a 1-set deficit to defeat Vito Galatioto (Yonkers, NY) 4-6, 6-0 amd 6-2.
With the win, the Clippers improve to 5-2 on the season. Bryant falls to 5-3 overall.
Concordia will compete in their ECC opener on Sunday, March 25th, as they host the Panthers of Adelphi University. First serve is set for 2:00 PM.
