Division I Bearcats Edge Clippers 5-4

Bronxville, NY - The Concordia Clipper Men's Tennis Team opened the 2007 spring season with a rare home loss to Binghamton University. Binghamton is a Division I team and they had already played 4 matches. Concordia looked a little rusty lacking the match toughness to play such a high level opponent so early in the season. Concordia won 2 of the 3 doubles and had a chance to win all three losing # 1 doubles 8-6. Teixeira and Ruenz took command of 2^nd doubles winning 8-3 while Cassas & Boerger played well for their first match at 3^rd doubles winning 8-5 !

In singles the Clippers took 5 & 6 with Boerger and Cassas winning 6-0,7-6 and 6-4 ,6-3 respectively. Bighamton played very well at 1^st and 2^nd singles besting Teixeira and Azovtsev while the match really hinged on 3^rd and 4^th singles. At #4 Pep lost 6-4,6-2 while the match of the day was # 3 singles where Vlad dropped a tough match 7-5, 6-7, 6-4..

The Clippers next foes will be the Setters from Pace on 2/22/07 and then the E.C.C. Preseason Singles & Doubles Championship at Queens on Sat/Sun 2/25-26.
