Clippers Take Four Titles in ECC S & D Tournament
Flushing, NY - Juniors Rodrigo Teixeira (Vitoria, Brazil) and John Cassas (Bogota, Colombia) won titles in both singles and doubles competition, as the Clippers took home 4 of the 9 titles in the East Coast Conference Singles & Doubles Tournament this past weekend at Queens College in Flushing, NY. Teixeira won at #2 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over William Almeyda of Queens College and also claimed victory at #2 doubles with freshman Henning Runz (Muelheim-Kaerlich) by default due to injury over Willem Jansen Van Rensburg and Petr Grischenko. Cassas defeated Timon Prosper of Mercy College 6-4, 7-5 at #6 singles and teammed with freshman Nik Boerger (Muenster, Germany) at #3 doubles to win 8-2. Both Teixeira and Cassas were #1 seeds in their respective singles flights. Cassas and Boerger were also #1 seeds at #3 doubles.
The Clippers will travel to Florida over Spring Break for four
matches in the Sunshine State. Concordia will kick off the
week on Monday, March 5th against the Tars of Rollins College
in Winter Park, FL. The action gets underway at 2:00 PM.
