WATERBURY, Conn. - The Concordia Clippers men's soccer team earned their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win of the season on Tuesday as Concordia edged Post University, 3-2 on the road.
Junior John Reed (Longford, Ireland) would score both goals for the Clippers in the first half as the first would occur in the 17th minute. Freshman Dennis Limani (Norderstedt, Germany) would take the ball away from the Eagles' defense and sent a pass to Reed for the game's opening goal. In the 35th minute, sophomore Elad Katz (Tel Aviv, Israel) would find Reed off a long pass as Concordia led 2-0 at the half.
In the second half Limani recorded his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 51st minute. Limani took the unassisted shot from the top-left side of the box to give the Clippers the 3-0 advantage. Post would attempt a late comeback as the home team scored their first goal in the 81st minute and added another in the 87th minute. Concordia's defense would prevent the Eagles from scoring again as the Clippers held on for the 3-2 victory.
Junior goalkeeper Jaime Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain) recorded eight saves for Concordia to tie his season-high. The Clippers were out-shot 18-9 as Post also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
Concordia (2-4, 1-3 CACC) will be off for over a week as the Clippers will next host Felician University on Wednesday, Sept. 27th.
